Feliz NaviDan... Dan Potacke, that is! We've reached December, which means it is time for the 5th Annual Dan Potacke Holiday Special!
As always, we do a special all-sketch show featuring every derivation of Christmas joke we can come up with! There will be elves, snowmen, a Jewish man and a minimum of one Santa!
Plus, the once-a-year treat that is The HolidaWheel of Fantasticness!
You don't want to miss this one. The show is going on hiatus after the 5th Anniversary Special on Feb 13th so this is the second-to-last Potacke Show for a while... possibly a long while!
As always, we are at the Frequency - 121 W Main St. Madison, WI. The show is Thursday, December 12th and it starts at 7 PM. No cover but we'll be collecting some donations for Second Harvest so bring a couple bucks or a non-perishable food item unless you are a total jerk.
Dan Potacke here, I'm THANKSful to have another show that I'm GIVING to you all next week!
This time, we'll be joined by Nerd Nite's Ben Taylor. Yep, that guy who does sketches on the show sometimes. He's also a real person who does real things. He'll be on to talk about this monthly event where creative and scientific minds give short presentation to drunk people at High Noon Saloon.
We'll also have comedy from the fabulous Heather Hanford. Because if she wasn't here doing comedy, she'd probably be someplace else watching comedy.
We're also going to have what is quite possibly the strangest sketch we've ever had on the show. The world premiere of Nick Lynch's opus "Dick Nixon: Space President." DO NOT MISS IT!
All that plus The Wheel of Fantasticness!
Did I scare you? Sorry. I just wanted to tell you about The Dan Potacke Halloween Spooktacular!
This time, our guest will be Scot Ross, Executive Director of One Wisconsin Now! He'll be telling us HORROR stories about how student debt is holding back our workforce and we'll chat about the SCARY things happening in the state legislature.
We'll have stand-up comedy from Daniel Raderstrong! There are very few Raderstrongs in the world because his parents made up that name by combining their own last names in a FRANKENSTEIN-ESQUE EXPERIMENT.
We'll also have skits with Sean Moore, Sarah Connor & Ben Taylor. Plus, the HOLLOWHEEL OF FANGTASTICNESS! Oh, and FREE CANDY!
As always, we're at The Frequency, 121 W Main St. Madison, WI. There is no cover and the show is 18+.
On September 5th, the Friendship Variety Night will bring together three genres of live entertainment for one very fun night at The Frequency. There will be music from Madison band The Flavor That Kills, magic from Chicago magic entertainer Mark Toland and comedy from The Dan Potacke Show.
The Dan Potacke Show is Madison’s premiere happy hour live talk show with its mix of sketch comedy, interviews with local luminaries and the game show-esque Wheel of Fantasticness. Normally taking place at 7 PM, this evening provides a rare opportunity to bring the Potacke fun to those who like to eat dinner before coming to a show.
This particular Potacke Show will feature special guest comedians Jon Lyons, the artist who draws political cartoon Off the Square for Isthmus, and Casey Brown, who hosts Chicago’s Comedy Cupcake Cabaret. Jon and Casey were both members of former Madison sketch comedy group The Public Drunkards where the character Dan Potacke first debuted.
Mark Toland is a magic entertainer traveling nationwide for college shows, corporate events, and theatrical performances. His “contemporary take on the classic magic show” has been seen by thousands of people across the country. Mark has been featured on WGN TV in Chicago, Ellusionist.com’s artist podcast series, and Disney World’s BoardWalk Resort in Orlando.
“The goal of every performance,” Mark says, “is to change my audience’s perception of magic. I want my audience to share my passion for the art.” Every one of MT’s live performances combines magic, mind reading, and sideshow stunts to leave audiences completely spellbound and astonished. With Mark Toland, magic is art and your mind is his stage.
The Flavor That Kills formed in 2012 featuring alumni from local bands past and present such as Screamin’ Cyn Cyn and the Pons and Awesome Car Funmaker. Their new EP “Safe for You” was released in August, the music video from the title track racked up over 90,000 views on YouTube within the first month. They are currently working on their first full-length album.
Jokes! Interviews! Games! That strange time between happy hour and evening entertainment! That's right: it's time for another Dan Potacke Show.
This time, I will be sitting down with Bridget Maniaci. After four years as District 2 Alder, she'll be heading off to grad school. We'll talk about her many, many years in Madison and her goals for the future. I'll also probably talk about Paul Soglin's mustache but I do that a lot.
We'll also have stand-up comedy jokes from Aaron Haag. I always forget Aaron is several years younger than I am as his life is way too put together for a man his age. Luckily, stand-up comedy tends to put most folks into a state of arrested development. He should be acting like someone his age in no time.
That's not all! We will also have a special appearance by New York comic (and Madison expatriate) Chris Waelti! He'll do some stand-up and we'll probably convince him to do a sketch or something.
As always, we're at the Frequency at 121 W Main. 7 PM, 18+ and no cover!
