Week of Too Many Shows!
May 19th, 2010Hello everybody, it's me, Dan Potacke! In the coming week, I'm involved in no less than three shows! You should check some or all of them out.
Saturday, May 22nd - 8 PM - Majestic Theatre. Paul F Tompkins w/ Alan Talaga and Sean Moore.
Tired of booking shows around the country, acclaimed comedian Paul F Tompkins has decided to let his fans book his shows instead. After 300 fans joined a Facebook group asking Paul to come to Toronto, Tompkins booked a show there and called it one of his all-time favorite experiences. Now Paul has challenged other cities to get 300 fans together to demand a show. Madison is a city with a great comedy tradition as well as a place that loves a challenge, so Wisconsinites quickly joined formed their Tompkins Facebook group, hit the magic 300 number, and now Paul F Tompkins is coming to the Majestic!
Local comics Alan Talaga and Sean Moore will each perform short sets before Tompkins tears down the house at Majestic.
Tickets are $18 in advance $20 day of show. Tickets can be purchased online at majesticmadison.com, the Majestic box-office, or at the Majestic ticketing locations: Willy Street Co-Op and Context clothing. This show is ALL AGES.
Tickets are going quick. Buy yours now to make sure you can get in! https://www.etix.com/ticket/servlet/onlineSale?action=selectPerformance&cobrand=majesticmadison&performance_id=1222260

Monday, May 24th - 6:30 PM - The Frequency - The Dan Potacke Show with journalist Kristin Czubkowski and comedian Stefan Davis.
Now, my occasional associate Alan Talaga is sponsoring and putting on Paul F Tompkins show here in Madison on May 22nd. Now he's not the brightest bulb in the world, but the dumbest thing he could try to do would be to go straight from that Tompkins show to writing and producing a Potacke show less than 48 hours later. It's a good thing we are two entirely different people.
While Alan is putting on that other show, I'll be getting ready to interview journalist Kristin Czubkowski from The Capitol Times. We will discuss the challenges and opportunities presented by new media, the ongoing Edgewater debate that won't die, and her work on a food blog.
Comedian Stefan Davis is also sure to please, he hosts a monthly stand-up show at the Argus that is quickly becoming one of the hottest comedy shows in town.
As always with my Monday Potacke Shows, there is NO COVER but you must be 21+ to attend!
Thursday, May 27th - 7:30 pm - The Project Lodge - Mary Mack's Delayed Comedy CD Release Show w/ Dan Potacke and Tim Harmston.
Folk humorist Mary Mack spends half her time convincing her Minnesotan mother it’s okay for her daughter to be a comedian and the other half touring the country in her sweet, 400 dollar Dodge Neon--affectionately referred to as “Street Heat.”
Mack started her career in Nashville, and now splits her time between Los Angeles and Minneapolis, where she recorded her live album "Either You Wake Up or you Don't" at her home club Acme Comedy Company.
Opening for Mary Mack will be Dan Potacke who will give a 15-minute multimedia presentation of hilarity. If you work Monday nights this is the perfect chance to see what you've been missing from The Dan Potacke Show.
The show starts at 7:30pm, $10/$8 w/ Student ID.
Here's a short set from the hilarious Ms. Mack.
Dan Potacke Show- May 3rd w/ MAMA's Rick Tvedt and comedian David Leon!
April 28th, 2010Hi, it's me, Dan P! It's almost time for the next Dan Potacke Show! This time, I'm welcoming Rick Tvedt from the Madison Area Music Awards (MAMAs). He'll be talking about the different charities that the MAMAs contribute to. I'll also ask him what the chances that my upcoming country/prog-rock album "Seasons of Potacke" will sweep next year's awards.
We will also have stand-up comedy courtesy of Mr. David Leon. He sold me a high-quality bagel, that's why he is performing.
The Dan Potacke Show- IN A STUDIO!
April 27th, 2010Hi, Dan Potacke here! Last month, I got some people together and we decided to record a Dan Potacke Show... in a studio! I decided to get some of my favorite folks from around Madison to come together and record in a space where the video/audio quality didn't look great.
In this special in-studio edition, I interview Aaron Yonda and Matt Sloan of Blame Society Productions and we get a musical performance from Mark Kump. Also, I interview a local author who writes entirely in the genre of erotic fan-fiction and I also have a chat with the guy who records all the announcements you hear on the bus. Plus a wizard stops by!

Dan Potacke Show - March 22nd w/ Freedom From Religion Foundation Co-President Annie Laurie Gaylor and comedian Mike Schmidt!
March 15th, 2010
Hi, everybody! Dan Potacke here!
I've got another show coming up! This time, I welcome Annie Laurie Gaylor, the Co-President of the Freedom From Religion Foundation and feminist scholar. Annie has spoken in front of academic and social conferences around the world and, for some reason, she's actually agreed to be on this show! Why? I have no idea! But she's a nice lady and I'm glad she's coming.
Note to self: become an expert of both religious and women's studies by next week so I don't ask horribly inadequate questions. Guess I better crack open those books!
Also, we will have the fabulous comedian Mike Schmidt! One time he helped me get some ketchup out of a bottle when I couldn't get any to come out to put on my fries. So feel free to bring any troublesome ketchup bottles, he'll help you out!
Dan Potacke Show March 8th w/ Tom Farley and comedian Ryan Casey
March 3rd, 2010It’s time for another Dan Potacke Show! Joining Dan this time around will be Tom Farley. Tom is currently running for a seat on the Madison Metropolitan School Board. He is also the founder of the Chris Farley Foundation, a nationally recognized substance abuse prevention organization named in honor of his late brother, Chris Farley. He is also the co-author of The New York Times bestseller, The Chris Farley Show: A Life in Three Acts. Tom is the first Dan Potacke guest whom has had a book on the NYT bestseller list AND the first guest is who is currently running for public office… wow!
Also, we will have great comedy by Mr. Ryan Casey. Ryan Casey has recently cut his hair shorter which is a really good look for him, he looks sharp. Just imagine if he had a nice pair of slacks to go with it! Ryan Casey: He’s going places! Oh, and he is very funny to boot!
All this and more at The Dan Potacke Show at the Frequency at 6:30 PM on Monday, March 8th. As always, this show has NO COVER and is 21+.
